Methodology

What has to be true before we publish a deal.

A large percentage saving is not enough. Feed errors, stale stock, product variants and cheaper exact matches elsewhere can all invalidate an apparent bargain.

1

Identify the exact product

We prioritise GTIN, EAN or UPC identifiers and high-confidence brand + manufacturer part number matching. Loose title similarity is not enough for a cross-retailer claim.

2

Qualify the price signal

A historical-drop signal requires enough prior observations and a material fall from prices we actually tracked. Cross-retailer signals require a meaningful difference between exact offers rather than an invented RRP.

3

Check the retailer page

The current offer is checked again where practical. A confirmed price mismatch, invalid page or stock contradiction can stop publication. If the page cannot provide enough evidence, a new deal is deferred rather than guessed through.

4

Run the market-best stop gate

The proposed offer must have enough exact-product comparison evidence. A confirmed cheaper exact offer can block publication even if that competing retailer does not pay Deal Burrow commission.

5

PASS, FAIL or DEFER

PASS may continue. FAIL is blocked. DEFER means the evidence is insufficient, so a new deal does not go live. We keep uncertainty visible rather than converting it into a favourable assumption.

6

Affiliate and duplicate checks come last

A published button must have a valid retailer destination and, where monetised, a valid affiliate route. Near-duplicate offers and repeated promotion families are pruned so one retailer or product family does not swamp the page.

Scope: “market best” means best among the current exact-product retailer evidence successfully available to the service. It is not a claim that every shop on the internet has been checked.

Price changes after publication

Retailer prices, stock and delivery can change after our last check. Always confirm the final price and terms on the retailer website before buying. Live deals are revalidated and can be removed when they stop satisfying the publication rules.
